I started a dream book. Right now it’s a dream piece of paper. Starting from right now and going across the expanse of my life…writing down anything I’ve ever wanted to do or try to do…
Walk a tight rope, drive a bulldozer or large construction equipment (AND push dirt around), star in a music video that makes me look beautiful from all the right angles despite my weight and with a voice over for my voice…, ride horses on the beach, jump out of an airplane (tandem is fine [now]), volunteer to be a big sister, learn to speak spanish (WELL), travel to certain places, get back into working with ceramics (haven't done it since age 4-5), etc.
So I have one sheet of paper that I’ve filled up…including the margins front and back of things...
that I want to do or experience. The opera was one, I can cross that off, the symphony is another…(I think I may do that new years eve). I'm not an elegant or refined person, but those events make me feel beautiful...
What’s neat about a dream book is that nothing is off limits. Even if you “know” you’ll never do it - if you never consider it or allow it to hit paper, it’s for sure it won’t happen because there’s no chance if you won’t even let it cross your lips or your pen tip. Other girls go through magazines and add pictures to put the dream into a visual aspect. I haven’t done that yet, but I have journal to do that with.
It’s a way of getting back to the you that is beneath the layers of life experience, hurts and disappointments and to the you that you have wrapped so many walls of protection around that you forget it’s in there because you haven’t allowed yourself to be that in so many years. The you that has true dreams, but has let them go because life says otherwise. Just dreaming and being allowed to dream is very important….no matter what age you are.
I think as women, we let go of some of our dreams as they no longer seem economically feasible. Money didn't matter when you dreamed as a child.
We also become so entwined thinking of others that we push what we want so far onto the back burner that we no longer have "desires". Oh, I don't know a woman who would turn down a spa day, pedi, mani, or massage... But that is stuff to destress, detoxify, and to help you feel like a woman... That's too generic...though if you've never been to a spa, by all means, put that on your list! :)
I think some women get so wrapped up in their husband, then kids, then debts, responsibility, obligations, and tiredness ensue... We are so busy, we stop dreaming. And I don't mean dreaming about things like a new car or house...though that's not entirely wrong, the purpose of this is to dig deeper into what you want to experience or DO. Just you, no one else.
I put that I want a canvas, some jars of paint and some brushes... I'd like to paint. I can't paint. It will likely be a catastrophe, but I think it will be quite soothing to put brush to canvas...to swish paint across canvas, stroke after sweeping stroke... and to "pretend" I can paint. It doesn't have to be worthy of an art exhibit... In fact, no one has to see it.... and if they do, I can call it my venting picture...or my experiment. But if it makes me feel good, why does my "performance" according to the world matter?
I would love to have one room in my home set up as a dance studio, with nice floors, mirrors, a great sound system... and no windows. That way I could go in there, blast music and dance and no one could watch and I could be the ballerina, graceful woman waltzing, or R&B video star with all the cool moves. Are they cool? Unlikely. Would it be a fun way to vent my love to dance? Yes!!! That alone makes it worth it.
So give it some thought. Think of things you would like to do and start a list. You never know what might end up on that list that is actually doable. But you have to get started to find out. You may surprise yourself.

I want to go to the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena and help decorate a float.
How interesting! That sounds like a neat idea!
